Stung Treng Hotels

Stung Treng is a small town in northeastern Cambodia, and can easily be described with the word "outpost" more than anything else. Many tourists heading to/from Laos pass through here, though few stay long as Banlung and Kratie offer far more excitement, activities, and remedies. A worthwhile stopover to/from Laos - don't miss the Mekong Blue silk weaving project - training vulnerable women in this traditional skill. A great place to pick up a uninque souvenir or present. While new roads have helped to put Stung Treng back on the map, they have also made it easier to pass through and many travellers are no longer overnighting here. It is located on the banks of Tonlé San, which flows into the mighty Mekong on the western outskirts of the city. Some locals call Tonlé San the ‘Tonlé Kong' or ‘Tonlé Sekong', as these two rivers merge 10km east of town. There is now a major new bridge across the San, which is a key link in the new road between Kratie and the Lao border.
