Lantau Island also Lantao based on the old local name of Lantau Peak traditional Chinese is the largest island in Hong Kong located at the mouth of the Pearl River. Administratively, it is part of the Islands District, but a small part in the northeast of the island belongs to Tsuen Wan District. It has an area of 146.38 kmē. Originally the site of sleepy peacock term fishing villages, the island has in recent years been transformed with the development of several major infrastructure projects, including Hong Kong's new international airport, Ngong Ping 360 and Hong Kong Disneyland.

Lantau Island is the largest outlaying island in Hong Kong, almost twice the size of Hong Kong Island. More than half of it has been designated as Country Park area. Its tranquil and green environment makes it a popular spot for nature's lovers and hikers. To complete a day of your Lantau Attractions journey, you should take the Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car ride, the Hong Kong's newest culturally-themed attraction from Tung Chung to Ngong Ping Village.
