Dibrugarh is the largest tea exporting town in India and the headquarters of Dibrugarh District in and is at the northern-most tip of the state. It has the world's largest Tea area and rightly earna the name of the 'Tea City of India'. It is a gateway to the three tea producing districts of Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, and Jorhat and also accounts for approximately 50% of India's tea crop. Dibrugarh is also addressed as the educational hub of Assam because of the presence of some of the finest educational institutes. Located alongside the River Brahmputra, it is sometimes referred to as the gateway to some of the districts like Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland. Travelling to ‘tea-city' Dibrugarh usefully closes a loop between Kaziranga and the Ziro–Along–Pasighat route. From Dibrugarh Town train station, RKB Path follows the rail tracks northeast passing HS Rd (which leads to the market area). After 800m RKB Path meets Mancotta Rd. Around this junction are many places to eat, plus there's fast-connection internet at Ajmera (Sachit Studio, Mancotta Rd; per hr Rs 20; 10am-9pm). Across the railway tracks, 1km south on Mancotta Rd then 300m right on Convoy/TRP Rd is the main bus station.
