Khimsar Hotels

Khimsar is a small desert town in the heart of Rajasthan, 90 Km away from Jodhpur on the main Jodhpur-Bikaner highway. Rugged landscape, miles of desert and a majestic fort add to the rustic charm of Khimsar. The Khimsar Fort is perched on the edge of the Thar Desert and was built in the16th century by Rao Karamsi. Originally used for military purposes only, the royal family set up residence within in the 18th century. Today, the fort is partly occupied by Thakur Onkar Singh, the 17th direct descendant of Rao Karamsi. One section of the fort and palace has been converted into a premier heritage hotel. The town sits at the junction of Jodhpur and Bikaner and could be used as a base to explore these destinationsThe quaint little village of Khimsar was once a small kingdom established by a scion of the house of Jodhpur. It is situated around 92 km away from Jodhpur (on the Jodhpur - Bikaner highway) and is one of the most interesting sites you can ever visit in Rajasthan. The Khimsar village is also an excellent starting point for anyone interested in exploring the Nagaur region.
