Pindaya Pindaya Pindaya Pindaya

Pindaya is a small, charming town, centred round a lake, called Nattamiekan or Angels Lake. The main sight in the area is Pindaya Cave (Shwe Oo Min Cave) - the limestone caves contain a maze of chambers with 6,226 Buddha statues. Some of the images are tiny, others are huge, and are made of white marble, bronze or plaster, coated with gold leaf. Some of the smaller caves within the complex serve as meditation chambers. The main stupa dates from the 12th century. This small town in Central Myanmar is ideal for an excursion on the way from Bagan / Mandalay to Taunggyi and Lugu Lake. Situated in Shan State in northern Myanmar, the pretty town of Pindaya is a popular tourist spot. Most people travel to Pindaya to explore the limestone cliffs and relax by the lake Boutaloke Lake is a picturesque spot to chill out for a while. The symbol of Pindaya is a spider, resulting from a legend where seven princesses were imprisoned in a cave by a giant spider. Full of quirky customs and traditions, Pindaya is an interesting place to get to know. Home to the warm and welcoming Taung-yo people, Pindaya is a good place to simply soak up the atmosphere and relax for a while. Wander through the grounds of the local monastery and compare the styles of the numerous temples around the town.
