La Martre Hotels

La Martre is a common French of 133 inhabitants located in the department of the Var region of Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur. The marten (Martes martes), also called marten and pine marten is a small mammalian carnivore in the family Mustelidae. Its range extends into the Northern Hemisphere (Europe, Eurasia, north of the Asia) from the border of forest areas in the north to the south bordering the Mediterranean. In France, we find almost everywhere, but with more dense populations in the east. It lives in dense woodland, conifer or mixed forests, with possible short excursions along their edges. This distinguishes the forest habitat of the sable ferret who conduct riparian and that much closer to human habitation. The human habitat and its surroundings, however, do not constitute a deterrent to the marten. Marten avoided open areas where they are few prey and few deposits. During the warm season, especially marten nest in trees, more than two meters high in the trunk cavities, clusters of ivy, forks of branches, nests of other species, etc.. These are temporary lodgings then it does not provide for. In winter and sometimes in summer, marten house ground in stony or under vegetation (including brambles). The annual home range of male - that is to say, all areas that uses the period - is an average of 150 hectares, as against 30 hectares for a female. These figures obviously depend heavily on the quality of the environment and its food supply.
