Gourock, a small burgh in Inverclyde, has always had roots in tourism. Once a popular seaside resort, this small town is now mainly a residential area. It began as a fishing village that was considered to be the seat of the Darroch clan and this family has influenced the town down through the centuries. This family made its money in the West Indies and built Gourock House here. The house was given to the town as Darroch Park, but now bears the name of Gourock Park.
