One of the nicest places we found to stay when our tour reached Champasak was at the Pon Arena Hotel in the centre of town. Good location in Khong Islands. Comfortable rooms, cleaned daily. Felt very safe here, and was also nice and quiet. Breakfast was fairly basic, but served with a giggle! the staff were all great fun, and made us feel so welcome. If you are looking for value for money in Laos then why not stay here!... more detail

Muang Khong is the very definition of the sleepy district capital. Life is moves slowly here, like a boat being paddled against the flow on the Mekong, and if you come here you will see seldom be disturbed by a vehicle.
