Pakbeng Lodge

Pakbeng lodge Sitting by the bank of the Mekong, Pakbeng Lodge is halfway between the World Heritage Town of Luang Prabang, and Huay Xai, the main border crossing between northern Thailand and northern Laos, both towns reachable within a day by cruise. All of the spacious rooms have an en-suite bathroom with a hot shower, and a terrace offering a panoramic view of this still-wild section of Mekong. The air can be refreshed by ceiling fan, though the temperature always stays comfortable in this river valley with naturals drafts. The Lodgeconsists of three buildings that hold : Superior Rooms, Deluxe Rooms, Suites. The walls within the Deluxe Rooms and Suites are made of wooden panels, with French windows opening wide enough to expose an exceptional scene of the mountains and the river below, looking out over your own private balcony. The 180° views are unforgettable.

pakbeng Lodge is an ideal point of departure for walks in the forest of an hour or a day, towards villages off the tourist roads. (Please see our section on Excursions.) It faces the Mekong Elephant Camp, which is dedicated to the protection of elephants in Laos. There, a wonderful opportunity exists to discover the life of an animal that contributes a strong element to the traditional culture, by participating in a walk or with their morning bath.
