Comfortable place to spend a few days in Hanoi is at the Flower Hanoi. Hanoi Old Quarter is one of best places to stay in town. Rooms were a little basic, but clean. But it was peaceful - we slept soundly! I came across some of the friendliest people in the country when I stayed here. When you come to Vietnam I recommend that you pass a few nights here if you venture this way.
