Pailin's fortunes rose dramatically in the late 1990s as gem dealers flocked into town and casinos opened to milk from Thai gamblers. After Khmer Rouge was destroyed, the small town is open to welcome visitor travel to this province because of many resources attracting such as historical and natural attraction site. The small hillock of Phnom Yat marks the gateway to town, and atop the summit is the eponymous Wat Phnom Yet (Phnom Yat Pagoda). There is an attractive old and ornate stupa here dating back to the early part of the 20th century, the best view of sunset and sunrise is here. The Phnom Khiev waterfall (Bleu Mountain) also in the lower reaches of Chuor Phnom Kravanh, and draws Khmers at holiday time. With its developing province, now Pailin just about 20 Km from the town there are Casinos and resorts close to the border are welcoming the gamer.
