Phnom Penh, a Capital city of Cambodia is a mixture of Cambodian hospitality, Asian exotica and Indochinese charm await the visitor to Phnom Penh, the present Royal Capital of Kingdom of Cambodia. Situated at the confluence of three great rivers known as the “Chaktomuk” (four faces) or “Quarter Bras” (four arms) of the Mekong, Tonlesap and Bassac Rivers with more then 2 million people, the country's commercial, economic and political hub. It is also comparatively new travel destination. As the capital city Phnom Penh is fairly young, only rising to the role in 1866, but is still steeped in history and offers several cultural and historical sites. Phnom Penh was under French control from 1863-1953, well known as colonial city, much of building are built during French period such as Royal Palace and National museum etc. An adventure destination just a decade ago, the city now well in the throes of booming economic development and quickly morphing an air of edgy chic with bistros and boutique hotels lining the riverfront, chic little silk boutiques and galleries dotting the side streets, a budding arts scene and a heady dusk-to–dawn nightlife. Phnom Penh is also the gateway to Cambodia. The National Museum offer the best display in the country, displaying important Angkorian artifacts and rare pieces from later periods. Historical sites from the Khmer Rouge period include the Toul Sleng Genocide Museum and Choeung Ek Memorial, still remain in the heart of Cambodian peoples during Khmer Rouge regime, more than 3 millions people was died. Creational activities are available, visit to traditional boat trip for sunset in front of Royal Palace, independent monument, and surrounding Phnom Penh such as Udong served as the capital of Cambodia under several sovereigns between 1618 and 1866, Tonle Bati with few temples around including of Ta Prum, Yeay Peau temple. Currently, Phnom Penh is a safe capital and visitor can enjoy with nightlife a long the river front.
