Picture choosen by : Mr.neuang inthasen wat sisaket Wat Si Saket situated on Lane Xang Road,chanthabouli district Vientiane capital on the corner with Setthathirat Road and is a Buddhist wat in Vientiane, Laos.to the northwest of Haw Phra Kaew.Wat Si Saket was built in 1818 on the orders of King Anouvong, which may be the oldest temple still standing in Vientiane. It was built in the Siamese style of Buddhist architecture, with a surrounding terrace and an ornate five-tiered roof, rather than in the Lao style, keeping it safe from the armies of Siam which sacked Vientiane in 1827. Although the temple was spared as its designed was a Bangkok style, the French restored the temple in 1924 and then again in 1930. Wat Si Saket features a cloister wall with more than 2000 ceramic and silver Buddha images. The wat also houses a museum.The main temple itself has gorgeous painted walls and beautiful ceilings. The upper part of the wall also has triangle holes with small Buddha statues in each hole. It's very pretty. I'm speechless. It's also nice to sit on the floor of the main temple in such a hot day, because the temple has high ceiling and big doors on three sides, so it's very cool and breezy inside. It's perfect to be there as I'm almost melting from the heat…
