Beaufort castle
The ancient castle at Beaufort was originally built in the 12th century and was later reinforced in the 16th century by Count Mansfeld, Governor of Luxembourg. If you've never been to Luxembourg, you might want to think again. It's a beautiful country, the verdant summer landscape studded with castles and castle ruins, many of which are undergoing restoration. Beaufort Castle is located in a region of Luxembourg called Mullerthal, the Little Switzerland. The castle is open 9-6 and is illuminated on Summer nights.
