Lalitpur District, a part of Bagmati Zone, is one of the seventy-five districts of Nepal, a landlocked country of South Asia. The district, with Patan as its district headquarters, covers an area of 385kmē and has a population (2001) of 337,785. It is one of the three districts in the Kathmandu Valley, along with Kathmandu and Bhaktapur.Lalitpur District has many schools, colleges and hotels. Adarsha Vidya Mandir, and Shining stars Boarding School, are famous schools located in Lalitpur District.As the name suggests it's the city of fine arts. Situated some 5 kms south-east of Kathmandu, this ancient city is full of history and heritage, exemplified by hindu temples and buddhist monuments. The important tourist attractions of Patan are:
