Khao Lak - Beaches and Waterfalls
Khao Lak-Lam Ru National Park has a many of waterfalls the most famous being Lam Ru waterfall. This waterfall has been used as a forest retreat for Buddhist monks, a shrine and remains of their shelter are still visible nearby. The waterfall is a fall of with a 10 meter deep pool good for swimming It is recommended that this waterfall bevisited in the dry season as in the monsoon the high water makes swiming dangerous. A Forest trail going on from the waterfall into the forests of the interior of the park. The headquarter of the Khao Lak-Lam Ru National Park is near a cape which has a 3 km good nature trail which brings you to a tranquil sandy cove. The trail leads from the park restaurant along the edge of the cape with views of the coast and back towards headquarters are possible. This beach is quite remote so many wildlife tracks may be found in the sand. Species seen include; Water monitor (Varanus salvator), Moonrat (Echinosorex gymnurus) and Crab eating macaque (Macaca fascicularis).
