Located in the northeastern part of Thailand, Ubon Ratchathani Province is an ancient and wonderful province known for its historical temples as well as the splendid beauty of nature. As a tourist destination, this province has long been unexplored. Ubon Ratchathani is a famous Buddhist pilgrimage center. It is a nature's paradise with long mountain ranges bordering the province. Some of the major rivers of Thailand namely Chee River, Moon River, Lum Saybok River, Lum Domeyai River and Lum Domenoi River flow through the region. For tourists who are interested in excitement, there are different forms of adventure activities in Ubon Ratchathani. Trekking and camping in the jungles are the most featured ones. There are around 50 national preserved forests, 3 national parks, 2 botanical gardens, 1 wild life preservation area and 1 botanical park. Prominent ones include the Phu Chong Na Yoi National Park, Kaeng Tana National Park and Pha Taem National Park. These parks are known for their lofty mountains, dense forests, interesting wildlife and dark caves filled with prehistoric drawings. Flowing from these mountains are some of the most beautiful waterfalls of Thailand like the impressive Bak Tew Yai waterfall. Other forms of activities include rafting, canoeing, swimming, boating and fishing that are available at the Sirindhorn Dam that has been built of Mun River
