Edremit is a Turkish city and county on the west coast of Anatolia (Asia Minor), near the Greek island of Lesbos. The Aegean and Mediterranean climate prevails with hot, dry summers and mild, rainy winters. Edremit is a visitor attraction with clean beaches and surf, historical sites and archaeological discoveries. The Edremit Museum houses artifacts from the Hellenic, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman eras, discovered at excavations in Edremit. Gure Thermal Spring preserves the features of Roman public baths. Also in the area is Kaz Mountains National Park. Places to visit there include the legendary Ida Mountain, said to be the setting of the first beauty contest, and valleys with diverse plant and wildlife.
