Malatya, Turkey
Malatya is one of the biggest cities in the Eastern Anatolia region of Turkey. Malatya's history backs to Hittites. The city is very famous with its apricots. Every July there exists an Apricot Festival in the city. The ancient Malatya (20 km far away from the city center) is one of the most important historical places. On the other hand, Malatya is also very close to the Mount Nemrut. Malatya is located in the south of Anatolia. The town itself is of no particular interest but is a good starting point for a trip to Nemrut Dagi a sight not to be missed. Malatya is also prime apricot country - in fact, most of Turkey's Apricots come from the region. You can fly to Malatya from Ankara.Actually the town has a very rich historical past, there are many ruins to visit (if your into that kind of thing). There is a really cool museum, which is free. There are several annual festivals not to be missed like the Kaysi Festivali
