Khorfakkan, United Arab Emirates
Khor Fakkan is one of the United Arab Emirates cities and is located on the eastern coast of United Arab Emirates. It is encompassed within the Emirate of Fujairah, while it belongs to the Emirate of Sharjah. Among the cities of United Arab Emirates, Khor Fakkan offers best oil refining facilities. The city bears a rich history of human settlement in the ancient days. About 34 graves have been excavated by the Sharjah Archaeological Museum, which dates back to the early period of the second millennium B.C. Again it is said that the city was founded by a Venetian, Gasparo Balbi. A Portuguese fort is also found at Khor Fakkan, which indicates that there was a Portuguese settlement once upon a time. Dutch and Persian settlements are also found in this city of United Arab Emirates.
