Beautiful Can Tho

Can Tho the name comes from is a city in Vietnam. The city, reputedly "Western capital", is the largest city in the Mekong Delta. This place located on the south bank of the the bigger branch of the Mekong River. About 169 km from Chí Minh City, Vietnam's largest city. Can Tho's climate is tropical and monsoonal with two seasons: rainy, from May to November and dry, from December to April. The Mekong Delta is considered to be the “rice basket of Vietnam”, contributing more than 50% of the nation's rice production. The city is famous with tourists for its floating markets. Guests can enjoy local fruit specialties such as pomelo, longan, jackfruit, mango and durian is famous because of its floating markets, Cai Rang, Phung Hiep, where people sell and buy things on the river, its bird garden, Ninh Kieu port and others.Cai Rang floating market is the main wholesale floating market near Can Tho. Go there early (start no later than 06:00), and come back through the small tributaries to Can Tho river; about 3-4 hours. The Mystic sampans offer higher-end breakfast cruises to Cai Rang floating market. Phong Dien is further upstream the Can Tho river, and worth seeing as it is a retail market. It is very active at dawn, but slows down early too, so you may like to go there on the land. The arroyos back from there to Can Tho are also very much worth a ride on a small boat. The floating markets are very lively scenery, accommodating much of the goods exchange on the area, and can be quite freely visited on board smaller boats. You may take a tour from the pier in front of the Nam restaurant, where the "boat ladies" are always eager to charm you into taking theirs. After 120 years of development, the city now is the delta's most important centre of economics, culture, science and technology. It has a large freshwater port and two industrial parks.
