Ancient capital of Cham
Hoi An Ancient Town is 30 km south of Da Nang along the Thu Bon River. Hoi An used to be an international trade center by sea on the east west area in the 16th and 17th centuries. It was the busiest trading port in Dang Trong region of Vietnam under the reign of Nguyen as merchants from Japan, China, Portugal, Spain, Holland...often landed for exchanging, purchasing commodities. In the city, several streets have been kept relatively intact. Almost houses were made of wood and were decorated with horizontal lacquered boards and vertical parallel panels engraved with Chinese characters. Pillars were engraved with ornamental designs. The most ancient city of Southeast Asian has been declared by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage Site. Japanese Covered bridge is called by an other name - Pagoda Bridge, Located between Nguyen Thi Minh Khai street and Tran Phu street – Hoi An City – Quang Nam province. It was built from 1693 to 1696 by Japanese businesses when traded here. This is unique architecture, on the northern of bridge is a Japanese pagoda to protect sailor. Statues of two dogs site at the end of the bridge and two monkeys at the eastern end. As Chinese calendar, it means that the construction started in the year of the monkey and completed in the year of the dog. Tan Ky Ancient house at 101 Nguyen Thai Hoc Road. It is the fist one of ancient houses and the most beautiful in Hoi An City. For over 200 years, Tan Ky ancient house has been kept original architect combinative culture of Japanese, Chinese and Vietnamese. Phuoc Kien Assembly Hall is located at 176 Tran Phu street-Hoi An. Firstly, Phuoc Kien Assembly Hall was a shrine dedicated Thien Hau Thanh Mau. For many time rebuilt, the pagoda was renamed "Phuoc Kien Assembly Hall" and was dedicated to the worship of Buddha. Many ancient objects still keep inside, including four horizontal lacquered boards engraved with Chinese character, a large 1.6m high and 0.6 m wide bronze incense burner, a pair of Chinese porcelain enameled terra-cotta chairs and many other precious objects that belonged to the Chinese community of Hoi An. My Son Sanctuary belongs to Duy Phu – Duy Xuyen – Quang Nam, about 69 km of Da Nang City, 40 km away from Hoi An city, 20 km of Tra Kieu Citadel. This place is complex of Cham temple-tower of Cham people. My Son was a centre for spirituality and worship during the reign of the Champa Kingdom. There was one small wooden temple built by King Bhadrestvara I in late 4th century. French researcher listed over 70 temple-towers here but cause the time and war destroyed on these relics. In this time, there are only 20 temple-towers still keep almost intact. The remaining has been reduced to ruins. The temple complex is regarded one of the foremost Hindu temple complexes in Southeast Asia and is the foremost heritage site of this nature in Vietnam. It is often compared with other historical temple complexes in Southeast Asia, such as Borobodur of Java in Indonesia, Angkor Wat of Cambodia, Bagan of Myanmar and Ayutthaya of Thailand. For this cultural value, The My Son Sanctuary has been recognized as a World Culture Heritage Site by UNESCO in December 1999.
